Life is a challenge

Life is a challenge

There may be times when life’s challenges are hard to overcome because the burdens have grown very heavy and seem to be so unfair. Such times are unavoidable, and it’s best to learn and accept this fact early on. It’s important to know that we cannot expect things to be perfect and that life always brings both the good and the bad. Once we accept this truth, it is much easier to feel at peace.

One of my all-time favorite books is “Man’s Search for Meaning

Hard work always pays off

Hard work always pays off

Who says working hard is easy? There is nothing easy about it and so about life. However, hard working pays off and a great deal too.

Way of coping with the stresses of hard work is to make time for brief moments of sharing through email exchanges with friends. Many of the emails we get are spam and a nuisance, but among the messages I receive I always find quotes and jokes from people I know, and I try to reciprocate whenever I can.

These friendly exchanges can make us laugh and lift our spirits and enliven our days. We especially need such lifts at those times when our work isn’t going well and we feel frustrated and disappointed. On those sad days, when it is time to stop, I call a friend or go art shopping or I cook something special for my family and friends and share my disappointments with them. Making a conscious effort to come out of the dumps by doing something I love and talking things over with the people close to me has always been very effective. Try it out; it may work for you too.

Here’s your list to follow when stressed out:
Enjoy Music of your choice, Play or watch Sports of your liking, Indulge into ART of your desire, Talk to friends or family and get rejuvenated, Laugh to your hearts content and think of beautiful world.

Life is what we make of it

Life is what we make of it

Life can be fun or hard. It is up to us what we make of it.

Life doesn’t work the way we want or like it to be. We face reality everyday and struggle with it. Realizing the facts of life and accepting it is a great step forward. We need to learn to live it more effectively and looking for solutions to our problems.

As an artist, I came to see how much my hard work was helping me improve. Putting in long hours gave me a greater understanding of what I was doing and made me work even harder to achieve the level of quality I sought. This holds true for any creative activity. As we become good at something even as simple as cooking, our creativity takes off. Our mind keeps coming up with new ideas for variations on the same dishes. And when we’re being creative, we love whatever it is that we do.

There isn’t anything easy about hard work. Sometimes the hours start to feel tedious and unproductive, especially if you don’t refresh your mind and body through breaks. Once it becomes clear to me that I absolutely have to put in many hours to finish a difficult project, I always try to find something special and joyous to do during my breaks.

My sincere hope is that, my reader, you accept the fact of life and enjoy the moment and the journey you are in.

The joy and power of learning

The joy and power of learning

The joy and power that comes from learning are vital for creative success.  Many years ago I came across a wonderful book by Hal Urban, Life’s Greatest Lessons: 20 things I Want My Kids to Know. The title was so catchy that I was compelled to buy it. Discussing success in one of the chapters, Urban wrote that, “Success is more than making money”.

Ongoing Learning the Creative way

Ongoing Learning the Creative way

Learning is not compulsory… neither is survival.
W. Edwards Deming

I continued to learn from people of all kinds. I learned from my parents, other adults, and friends of my age. I still learn every day. Learning isn’t merely a matter of educational degrees: it’s a lifelong process for us all, regardless of formal education or not. The day we stop learning is the day we stop growing and expanding our minds. Our task is to encourage our mind growing and expanding in various ways, not only by reading, but also by paying attention to those around us. These days, my friends range in age from their twenties to their nineties, and I see unique qualities within them all. I listen to their words, and I continue to learn.

Ongoing learning shows us that the world is changing and that we continuously have to reinvent and rewire. When I read a book by Thomas Friedman entitled “The World is flat,

Creativity at its best

Creativity at its best

A story: About our own attitude

One of the emails stories I had received some time ago and wanted to share with you.

Subject: Hi handsome, my name is Rose.
An oldie, but a goodie!!!!
The first day of school our professor introduced him, and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.
I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.
She said, ‘Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?’
I laughed and enthusiastically responded; ‘Of course you may!’ and she gave me a giant squeeze.
‘Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?’ I asked.
She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…..’
‘No seriously,’ I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. ‘I always dreamed of having a college education and now I’m getting one!’ she told me.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months, we would leave class together and talk nonstop.
I was always mesmerized listening to this ‘time machine’ as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.
Over the course of the year, Rose became campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I’ll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.
Frustrated and little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, ‘I’m sorry I’m so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.’
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, ‘we do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.
There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.
We have so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it!
There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.
If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.
Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.
The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets.’
She concluded her speech by courageously singing ‘The Rose.’
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those months ago.
One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be.
When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your family and friends, they’ll really enjoy it!
REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We all make a living by what we get. We make Life by what we give.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
‘Good friends are like stars…………. ……You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.’

I strongly believe that we poses UNIQUE abilities and are capable of finding our own creativity that lies within us.  There are various ingredients that can help you become a creative genius. This means using your time well and learning more every day. It means finding an activity that fascinates you and makes you want to work at it passionately. Are you contributor?

Are you contributor?

We can be contributor to our society in many ways. Have you ever stopped and thought what are you contributing to your community, society and the world? Our UNIQUENESS has special meaning and we all possess the special quality which we can share with the world.

I believe that the impulse to give and share lies at the heart of artistic creativity. We do not create merely to please ourselves. We do it in large part because we want to touch the lives of others with what’s best inside of us. We have learned and loved and sometimes suffered, and we make art that draws on these experiences in some way and expresses them for others to feel. But art is only one way of making a meaningful contribution to our world.

Each of us has many other things to give, such as time, money, the sharing of our resources and information, our possessions, and much more.  The point is not to give because you expect to receive something of value in return. An excellent movie called “Pay It Forward,

Creativity: Sharing and Giving to the world

Creativity: Sharing and Giving to the world

Although we rarely think about it, we are surrounded by benefits from what others have given us. Every day we use so many things like roads, bridges, parks, and many more that we didn’t ourselves create and yet take for granted. These are the products of others’ creative genius and the desire of past generations to make the world a better place.

In a similar way, we use many resources of mother earth that were simply handed to us. Isn’t it high time to think about such blessings? And then to ask ourselves why can’t we leave something special behind that would benefit others? Our good deeds and our love for one another will have a positive effect. Each of us can do our little part to create a better world, one deed at a time.

Sharing isn’t restricted to just monetary sharing but  of knowledge, time, resources, information, talents and many other things that one can share with the world. There are many needy people who can use your expertise and talents. Many organizations provide safe heaven for these people and many are hungry for knowledge.

Creativity: Value of Journaling

Creativity: Value of Journaling

Most people don’t realize the value of keeping a journal where they take notes about things they learned and where they learned them. Such a journal can be a great resource when you need to look back on information that piqued your curiosity. It’s also a perfect way to focus on your plans. As you write, you will think and rethink, and your ideas become clearer as you try to articulate them. And if you keep making journal entries over the long run, your language skills will improve as well. This is true of anything we do—the more we practice it, the more proficient we become. Finally, for me personally, there’s still another benefit to keeping a journal: it makes me sit in a quiet place with my own thoughts. Even when I am in front of my computer typing my reflections into this book, I feel a special satisfaction and peace.

Another way you can feel more full filled is to make your TO DA list. The one which we know is TO DO list where you are writing down what you need to do or accomplish. However, for, TO DA list, write down what have completed or accomplished. Every now and then I make my TO DA list. In fact, my recent trip to the east coast, I had many things planned and I did them one by one. When I was back home, I just made my list and felt satisfied and accomplished. This is a great feeling to have. It helps certainly with not only your psyche but creativity too. Try it out and you will be happy to look at it. We do tend to forget about things very quickly.

Are you Curious?

Are you Curious?

Being inquisitive and curious are skills that we need to develop if we want to become creative geniuses. We should continuously strive to gain more knowledge about the world around us and particularly about those activities which interest us the most. This requires very little effort on our parts. All we need, really, is to allow our curiosity to roam freely. We should ask questions of those who are experienced at what we want do: How did you learn this? Where should I begin? If we show genuine interest, people are almost always happy to share detailed information.

As you can see from my earlier tips, I believe that reading is one of the best habits to cultivate. Reading brings us information from experts without costing much. The habit of reading is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves. I received that gift from my parents and have passed it onto my children. They are both voracious readers like my husband. Another such gift is learning how to use computers. If no one in your family and friends can teach you, you can take a basic course for adults that will open doors to all the information on the internet. Such courses are offered at most colleges for little cost or for free in local libraries. Basic instruction on computers and other new technologies is also available at Apple stores and similar commercial outlets. All you have to do is look around, be inquisitive, and find out what will work best for you.

Are you resourceful and inquisitive?

Are you resourceful and inquisitive?

Today, we can easily find a treasure trove of valuable resources on any subject on the internet. Or we can go to libraries to do our research. Library cards are free in most communities, and librarians are there to help you find the materials you need and to answer questions about how you might deepen your research. And don’t forget to brainstorm with family and friends; you may be surprised at how much some of them can guide you about any new challenge you want to undertake.

A more formal approach to learning a new subject or developing a new skill involves attending community or adult school. Such schools tend to offer low-cost courses on everything from playing bridge and tennis to managing personal finances to painting and fiction writing and photography and other forms of art. I loved taking all sorts of community college courses: some were as short as one week, others lasted a full semester.

Over the years, I kept watching the college catalog to find classes that intrigued me and were offered at convenient times. Nowadays, taking courses online has become an even more convenient way to gather information and to learn new skills. Hundreds of colleges and universities have full-fledged online programs in many fields, enabling you to learn at your own pace from the comfort of your own home.

Connect with connector

Connect with connector

We all know who is the connector right? Our soul. It is connected to the universe-the super being.
I have been enjoying Oprah’s life classes. You can go to her network and watch the past episodes. They have lots of valuable information.

Once we understand that we have a soul as well as a body, and then we have come half way. The next steps lie in understanding why we are here and what our purpose is in life. Is the purpose of our being higher than we think? Meditating on such questions clears our minds and helps us focus on what we want achieve. Are we truly dedicated to becoming a creative genius? Are we really working at it? If not, what obstacles stand in our way? Can these be overcome?
