Yet we shouldn’t just float along on the river of time, waiting for whatever will come to us. Once we fully realize that time lost can never be replaced, we should commit ourselves to making better use of what time we have. An important step in that direction is to bring discipline to our days. Becoming disciplined shows you very quickly how much more you can accomplish.

You begin to feel in charge of your time, and you gain satisfaction as you see the results from your new way of doing things. It all starts to fall into place: taking charge of your time soon becomes second nature for you. Our time is precious.

Time can be healer

But although time can bring us various challenges and hardships, it can also heal. When we are sick or lose a loved one or suffer deeply, we feel that it is all over for us. We convince ourselves that we have hit bottom and will never be able to climb out. But there is so much truth in the saying that “time heals all wounds".

Time passes by

Time passes by so quickly that we sometimes ask ourselves where the years have gone. I have always felt that time was speeding along, even when I was young. Whenever I had free time, I tried not to waste it. I felt it was important to use my free time to learn something new or accomplish some small task. In this way, I gradually acquired new knowledge and skills and gained a feeling of satisfaction from each little accomplishment. 

I still try to use my open time this way, and I believe that each of us can benefit by doing so. It always feels good at the end of the day to know that you've made time for a number of accomplishments. Time hasn't simply slipped by—you have used it well.

Understanding the value of time

What in the world does time have to do with creativity? Well, everything in life requires TIME, whether it is your work, raising kids, being in love, finding a new job, or doing something creative. Over the years, I have often worked 30 hours in 24-hour days. Is this really possible? No, it’s just that I managed to complete my 30 hours of work in 24 hours because I became efficient at those activities in order to finish within those set times. I developed a disciplined approach that enabled me to work faster and produce better results. Where did I learn to manage my time so well? As usual, I sought advice in thoughtful books. 

Absorbing the views of experts on time management and organization helped me to understand how to change my habits so that I could become a more effective worker. It also made me realize that people who become truly exceptional at what they do have grasped the value of time.

Is being passionate necessary?

Is being passionate necessary?

The answer is absolutely, YES.

How could being passionate help you to be creative? I took up machine embroidery when I was young and have continued to enjoy it over the years. As I became better at it, I realized I was on the path to discovering my own creativity. This small creative hobby of my youth not only let me earn pocket money by selling embroidered handkerchiefs, but it also awakened in me a passion for making beautiful things. I wanted to be more creative, and I eventually went on from embroidery to trying my hand at various other activities, including painting, which has become one of the great passions of my life. 

Your creativity can take many forms: you can paint or sculpt or compose music or take photographs or make films or write. But to be successful as a creative artist—to become a creative genius—you first have to find something special that engages your passionate energy. If you have a passion for what you’re doing and for what you’re trying to achieve, your creative juices will flow.
